Conduct Policy

Conduct and Behavior Policy

At Learning with Lawanda, we are committed to providing a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment for all students. To maintain this standard, students are expected to uphold appropriate conduct and demonstrate respect for peers, staff, and property at all times.

Prohibited Behaviors

The following behaviors are strictly prohibited within the Learning with Lawanda program:

  • Hitting or Physical Aggression: Any form of physical aggression, including hitting, pushing, or other acts of violence, is not tolerated.

  • Throwing Objects: Throwing items in frustration or as an act of misbehavior is considered unsafe and disruptive.

  • Breaking or Damaging Property: Intentional damage to classroom materials, furniture, or any other program property is unacceptable.

  • Bullying: Bullying, whether verbal, physical, or emotional, is strictly prohibited. This includes teasing, name-calling, exclusion, spreading rumors, or any other behavior intended to harm or intimidate another student.

  • Disrupting the Classroom: Behavior that interferes with others' ability to focus or learn, such as yelling, inappropriate comments, or continuous interruptions, is not allowed.

Parental Responsibility for Damages

Parents are financially responsible for any damages caused by their child to program property, including but not limited to:

  • Damaged furniture

  • Broken materials or supplies

  • Equipment requiring repair or replacement

An invoice detailing the damage and associated costs will be provided to parents, and payment must be remitted promptly.

Steps for Addressing Misconduct

The following steps will be taken if a student violates this Learning with Lawanda Conduct and Behavior Policy:

  1. First Incident: Parents will receive a phone call informing them of the behavior and discussing corrective actions.

  2. Second Incident: A conference will be scheduled with the parents to create a behavioral improvement plan and discuss further consequences for violations.

  3. Third Incident: Continued misconduct, including bullying or failure to comply with the agreed-upon improvement plan, may result in expulsion from the program

Bullying Policy Enforcement

Bullying is a serious offense that undermines the safety and well-being of all students. If a student is found to be engaging in bullying behavior, it will be addressed immediately, and the following steps will apply:

  • Investigation: Program administrators will thoroughly investigate the incident and gather statements from all involved parties.

  • Parent Notification: Parents of both the aggressor and the victim will be notified, and appropriate interventions will be implemented.

  • Behavioral Support Plan: The aggressor may be placed on a plan designed to address and correct bullying behavior, with close monitoring to ensure compliance.

Program Commitment

At Learning with Lawanda, we work collaboratively with families to address behavioral challenges, including bullying, and to ensure a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students. While we strive to help every student succeed, maintaining safety and respect for all remains our highest priority.
