Attendance Policy

Attendance Requirement:

Enrollment in the homeschool program requires consistent attendance and participation in all scheduled in-person or online classes. Attendance is critical to ensuring the student’s academic progress and success within the program.

Unexcused Absences:

A student will be considered in violation of the attendance policy under the following circumstances:

  • 10 or more unexcused absences within a 6-month period during a single school year.

  • Three or more unexcused absences within a 4-week period.

An unexcused absence is defined as failure to attend scheduled classes or sessions without prior communication or approval from the program administrator.

Parental Responsibility:

Parents or guardians are responsible for ensuring their child attends all scheduled classes and participates fully in the homeschool program. Parents must notify the program in advance of any absences. Additionally, parents should have documentation available to share with Acellus regarding why their student has not been attending classes. At that point, all communication regarding the absence will be handled directly between the parent and the online program administrators.

Consequences of Noncompliance:

Failure to meet attendance requirements may result in the following actions:

  1. Written Warning: Parents will be notified in writing when a child approaches the unexcused absence threshold.

  2. Probationary Period: If unexcused absences continue, the student will be placed on a probationary period and a corrective action plan will be developed with the family.

  3. Removal from the Program: If attendance issues are not resolved during the probationary period or if the child exceeds the unexcused absence threshold, the student may be permanently removed from the homeschool program.

Truancy Prevention Measures:

To support families in meeting attendance requirements, the program will implement the following measures:

  • Proactive communication regarding attendance concerns.

  • Parent-student meetings to discuss barriers to attendance and develop corrective strategies.

  • Reasonable accommodations, if applicable, to ensure participation in the program.
